Cost analysis of breast cancer: a comparison between private and public hospitals in Iran

Abstract Backgrounds Breast cancer is the most prevalent among women. imposes a considerable economic burden on health system. This study aimed to compare cost of breast patients who referred private and public hospitals in Iran (2017). Methods was prevalence-based illness study. A total 179 were selected from using census method. The researcher-constructed checklist used for data collection. Data analyzed SPSS software version 22. Results estimated mean (SD) direct hospital $10,050 (19,480) $3960 (6780), respectively. Further, indirect lower than those referring at $1870 (15 % costs) $22,350 (85 costs), These differences statistically significant ( P < 0.05). Conclusions substantial patients, insurance organizations whole society Iran. Therefore, adoption effective measures prevention early diagnosis urgently needed.
